Despite Newcastle's pressure, Brighton managed to level the game, and Minteh equalized before halftime after a great team play. In extra time, Welbeck scored the winning goal after an excellent play from Solly March.

In the quarter-finals, Brighton will face West Ham on March 10 at 17:00, while in the Premier League they will play against Fulham on March 8 at 12:00, corresponding to the twenty-eighth matchday.
