On Tuesday, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in the British capital, London, coming from Berlin at the head of a ministerial delegation. He is set to meet with senior British officials. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Sharaa's motorcade arrived at the British Prime Minister's office on Downing Street for a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and British officials to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between the two countries. During a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Syrian President stated: "We are working with our partners." In his first visit to Berlin since the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad in 2024, Sharaa pledged to work with Germany to allow more Syrians to return to their homeland.
