A patient who became famous for preventing a man from bombing a hospital in 2023 revealed he hugged the perpetrator to calm him. Nathan Newby spent two hours persuading a "lone wolf", Mohammad Farooq, to abandon his plan to attack St James's Hospital in Leeds, UK, in 2023. "I hate going to hospitals, but that day I was there for one reason, and it wasn't to get better; I was there because it was happening," said 35-year-old Newby in his first interview since the incident. Farooq, who worked at the hospital, was later found guilty of preparing "acts of terrorism" and sentenced to a minimum of 37 years in prison. "Two young men came out, covered in blood."
