A British man has been sentenced to 21 and a half years in prison for intentionally driving his car into a crowd of Liverpool football fans during their championship celebration last May, injuring over 130 people. Paul Doyle pleaded guilty to 31 criminal charges. The judge stated that his actions showed an "incomprehensible contempt for human life." Prosecutors described the incident as a "complete loss of temper." Doyle, who had a brief service in the Royal Marines in the early 90s, was portrayed by the defense as a remorseful family man, while the prosecution emphasized the brutality of his act during what was supposed to be a "day of joy."
