The Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho was about to change leagues during the transfer window, but he will ultimately continue in the Premier League with Manchester United. Napoli made a significant offer for the winger, but did not reach an agreement with the English club or with the player regarding contractual terms.
Giovanni Manna, the sporting director of the Italian club, explained the reasons why the operation did not materialize. "We made a significant offer for Garnacho and we were close; we wanted him very much," Manna stated, although he acknowledged that they could not meet the player's wage expectations. "He wanted to be economically satisfied, and his demand was something we could not meet at this time. It would not have been fair to the other players," Manna said.
With 23 goals in 122 matches, the young Argentine remains one of the team's great prospects and will have the opportunity to continue showcasing his talent in the Premier League. On the other hand, Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, confirmed the forward's stay at the English club. Although Garnacho was on the list of possible departures due to United's financial issues, neither Napoli nor Chelsea could match the figure that the "Red Devils" were asking for, which was around 70 million dollars.
"I want players like Kobbie and Garnacho with me," Amorim stated, highlighting the importance of the Argentine in his project and the key role he wants to give to the young academy players. Meanwhile, Garnacho himself left hints about his future on his social media, where he implied that his present and commitment remain with Manchester United.
