Man Causes Train Chaos in New Malden

A 41-year-old man from New Malden, born in London, was convicted of a prison sentence for his reckless actions that endangered the safety of a railway line. On August 19 of last year, he entered a high-speed route, using trains every two minutes, which could "kill instantly," and ultimately fled from the police, running through four active lines equipped with 750-volt electric cables.

One of the fast train drivers was forced to make an emergency stop at a speed of 120 km/h when the man attempted to hide in bushes next to the tracks during his dangerous run. The company Network Rail cut the power to ensure the safety of the runner and the police pursuing him. The company's operations director stated that the man was "very lucky to escape unscathed," as the train passed through the area at a speed of up to 160 km/h, and there was also a threat of being killed by a third rail line.

The consequences of his actions reflected on the operations of several trains: a total of 358 services were completely canceled, and 81 services were partially canceled. Over 1000 trains were delayed, and thousands of passengers between London, Uterlo, Surreham, Somerseto, Dorseto, and Hempshire faced disruptions.

The man managed to evade the police, and he left the railway lines to the restoration of power at 16:30. Nevertheless, train services faced heavy disruption throughout the day and the following day. Later he was arrested, and he was sentenced to imprisonment for a month for the wrongful causing of public safety during the breach of railway lines and additionally faced a dangerous driving charge for 10 months, under which both pleas were accepted subsequently.
