Filmmaker James Gunn shared an exclusive photo of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie. The British actor takes on the role of the iconic villain in 'Superman: Legacy,' bringing a new perspective to the character. Hoult, known for his roles in 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and 'Renfield,' was initially considered to play Clark Kent/Superman but was ultimately chosen for the role of Lex Luthor.
Hoult's performance impressed the filmmakers, who cast him as the infamous businessman and scientist. To prepare for the character, the actor drew inspiration from Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal in the series 'Smallville' and from Luthor's depiction in the comic 'All-Star Superman.' As a personal commitment, Hoult allowed his son JoaquĆn to shave his head to adopt Luthor's characteristic bald appearance.
'Forever Superman: Legacy' is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025, and besides Hoult, it will feature performances by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, among others. The movie will explore Clark Kent's early years as Superman, while balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his life on Earth.
