An inexperienced thief brought down his entire gang in Britain by documenting his exploits with videos he filmed himself and posted online, boasting about piles of cash and luxury cars. For this, he was dubbed the 'dumbest thief in Britain'. The court sentenced the young man (22) to six years in prison. He was one of six gang members sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for a series of organized robberies of expensive cars in Lancashire and Bradford. Footage published by Chorley police shows the young man filming himself putting on a mask before robberies, followed by videos of him behind the wheel of a stolen BMW and others showing off the proceeds of his thefts. But the evidence against the gang was not just in his boasting. Investigators managed to link the criminals to other crime scenes through DNA extracted from the airbags of crashed cars, as well as fingerprints and a smashed iPhone found in one of the stolen vehicles. During a search of the young man's bedroom, police found a luxury suitcase packed with hundreds of wraps of cocaine and heroin, which significantly increased his sentence. A police spokesman described the young man as 'not the brightest of the thieves', noting that his desire to boast about his crimes made it easy for the justice system to put the gang behind bars for a long time.
