This decision was approved as part of the plan to store the largest plutonium stockpile in the world, derived from civilian reactors, as part of the work with radioactive waste at Sellafield in Great Britain, which is located in the north of the country on the coast of the Irish Sea.
According to the statements of government representatives, the Walframa Investment Group is promoting this strategic decision of the government. According to the Guardian newspaper, in the prohibited area, it is planned to establish the largest radioactive waste storage facility in the world, and also to store accumulated radioactive waste generated during the development of foreign nuclear weapons.
