Man Convicted of Causing House Explosion in Kirkland

In a British court, jurors were informed that 57-year-old man named Andrew Makobin intentionally caused an explosion, destroying his rented house in Kirkland, UK, and causing serious damage to neighboring homes in June of last year. Makobin was charged with manslaughter due to the circumstances, and he was found guilty in his absence due to his psychological state, making his appearance in court unfeasible. The verdict will be delivered later, taking into account the possible hospitalization.

Prior to the explosion last Sunday, Makobin expressed his suicidal thoughts. On the morning of June 18, he asked two neighbors about the smell of gas and told one of them: "Well, it means we’ll all be going to heaven." He deliberately turned on the gas pipe, leading to the explosion, as a result of which he suffered serious burns. Video surveillance cameras showed that he was the only one who entered the house that morning.

The jury described the incident as a "tragic case of many aspects." The court established that Makobin was a "difficult" tenant who refused to allow an agent into the property and left the house in a state of disarray.
