The United Kingdom has announced on Tuesday a new aid package of 600 million pounds (805 million dollars) to bolster Ukraine's air defense capabilities. This was stated by UK Defense Minister John Healey. He emphasized that the investment in air defense «represents extremely important assistance to the Ukrainians as they defend their towns, cities, and energy infrastructure from the brutal attacks being carried out by Russia». Healey and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius chaired a virtual meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group today. The minister also announced that the funding will be used for advanced tower systems designed to shoot down Russian drones, as Kyiv prepares for potential winter attacks on its energy network.
