UK Introduces New Rules for Dual Nationals

British authorities have warned dual nationals they may be barred from entering the country after February 25 unless they hold a valid British passport, according to The Guardian. This warning from the Home Office comes amid dozens of complaints from Britons living or traveling abroad who have suddenly found themselves at risk of being denied entry to the UK. The issue stems from a change in border control procedures effective February 25, when all travelers to the UK will need a travel authorization, except for British or Irish citizens or those with other exemptions. Short-stay visitors must apply for an electronic travel authorization costing £16. However, for the first time, dual nationals will be required to present their British passport to travel to the UK, or pay £589 for an 'eligibility certificate' to be attached to their second passport to board a plane, ferry, or train.
