The Williams Racing team has unveiled its new single-seater, the FW47, at a special event in Silverstone. This car has generated great anticipation among fans with its camouflaged design. Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon had the opportunity to test the car for the first time on track, despite the unfavorable weather conditions.
"It is obviously an evolution of last year's car; when you look at the car, you can see thousands of details that are another evolution of where we were before. I've dreamed of this since I was four years old. There has been no blockage regarding where we were. We are making sure that we continuously advance the team," said James Vowles, the team principal.
The FW47 features several aerodynamic innovations, such as the pull-rod front suspension inherited from the previous model and the new sidepods, which aim to improve the car's performance. The team principal stated that having strong drivers like Sainz and Albon can be an advantage in special situations during races.
On the other hand, Carlos Sainz expressed his excitement for this new project at Williams: "I feel like I'm living my dream. The British team has shown great progress in recent years, and I am excited to start this new chapter." Williams is set to reveal the final design of the single-seater at a Formula 1 launch event in London on February 18.
With the FW47, Williams Racing hopes to take a step forward and compete for more prominent positions on the grid in the upcoming Formula 1 season, which is about to begin.
