Philipp Muelleren (47 years old), who is a graduate of Manchester United Academy and previously played for Norwich and Cardiff, concluded his football career in 2008. However, in 2017 he made the decision to stay in the monastery and stated: "Right now, I can say that as a monk. It's not just external. I've gotten used to Manchester United, to sacrifice and give yourself for something bigger than yourself — that's what is valued here, in the monastery, where I live with another 15 monks."
Philipp Muelleren changed his course to religion after life hit him with fame, money, and models. He came on the field only once as part of the first team of United in 1998 in a match against Barnsley, where there were players like Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole. He also appeared 27 times for the Northern Ireland national team.
