Olympic medalist Chris Hoy recently announced that he is in a terminal stage of cancer. In an interview, he mentioned: 'We all are born and die, and this is part of the process.' The retired cyclist revealed that he initially started cancer treatment without providing details about his diagnosis. However, in a more recent statement, he said that his illness has reached an incurable stage.
Chris Hoy discovered he had cancer accidentally while seeking treatment for what he thought was a shoulder pain in September 2023. Through analysis, it was revealed that it was a tumor, and then a second diagnosis confirmed that it was stage 4 cancer that originated in the prostate and had metastasized to various parts of his body.
Hoy's treatment included chemotherapy sessions that took place over 18 weeks. During the process, he used a cold cap to preserve his hair, but faced an allergic reaction in the second round that led to a delay. Despite the difficulties, the treatment results were encouraging for him and his family.
Chris Hoy is one of the most successful athletes in the history of British Olympism, having won several Olympic medals throughout his career. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he excelled in track cycling, achieving multiple victories at the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, and London 2012, as well as winning 11 world titles. Despite his battle with cancer, Hoy has shown strength and gratitude for the support received during this difficult time in his life.
