British musician Paul McCartney will release a new album titled 'The boys of Dungeon Lane' on May 29, his eighteenth solo album. In this album, the former Beatle, at 83, looks back on his childhood years. On Thursday, Universal Music issued a press release providing a link to pre-order the album, listing its 14 songs, and allowing for a digital listen of one of them, the ballad 'Days We Left Behind'. The label states that the songs will reveal 'memories never before shared' and other snapshots of a young Paul, long before he became famous with the Liverpool quartet. The fourteen tracks are described as born from a Paul in a 'sincere, vulnerable, and deeply reflective mood', writing with unusual frankness about his childhood. Dungeon Lane, which gives the album its title, is a street in Liverpool that Paul frequented on his way to or from home, a bird book in hand, during those early childhood years when he remembers 'smoky pubs'. In a promotional statement, McCartney says his neighborhood was 'quite working-class... we didn't have anything but it didn't matter', highlighting the human value of his environment. The musician began working on this album five years ago with producer Andrew Watt, recording sessions in Sussex (England) and Los Angeles, without time pressure.
