Liverpool, under the guidance of coach Arne Slot, cautiously optimistic after his team opened an 11-point gap in the Premier League thanks to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday. "In any other league, such an advantage would be very comfortable, except for this one," Slot told journalists on Sunday.
Every game presents a potential for mistakes, he noted, pointing to the difficult home win of Liverpool 2-1 over relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers last week. "We are in a good position, but we also know how difficult it is to play against Wolves," the coach added.
Slot expects another tough game in midweek against Newcastle United, who drew with Liverpool in December and currently sit in second place, having won their last match 4-3 against Nottingham Forest.
"Now we have an 11-point lead, but Arsenal still has one game in hand," Slot emphasized. "Now we play against Newcastle, last time it was a 3-3 draw, which in my view was also a good result... but we also experienced how difficult this game is," he remarked.
"We work every day to achieve this, and it’s been very hard work for the last three months to maintain this. There’s no secret," Slot concluded.
