According to the new report published by FIFA, English clubs were the leaders in spending and revenue from player transfers in the past year 2024, underlining the strong financial situation of the English Premier League.
Six English clubs made it to the top 20 European clubs by transfer spending, with Manchester United in second place after French PSG. Last summer was marked by a busy transfer period, especially with the acquisitions of Declan Rice, Josko Gvardiol, Matheus de Ligt, and Manuel Ogarte.
The strength of the English league was exemplified by the fact that three clubs, not in the top 6 of English football, – Brighton, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest, – also made it to the list of top 20 by spending.
Overall, English clubs spent $1.88 billion and earned $1.34 billion in 2024. Following them were the French league at $994.9 million, then the Italian league at $937.9 million, the Spanish league at $761.8 million, and finally, the German league at $724.9 million.
