The United Kingdom and Ukraine have concluded an agreement on a loan amounting to £2.26 billion ($2.85 billion) for supporting the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.
This loan is intended for the renewal and modernization of Ukrainian armed forces, as well as to support their ability to ensure the country’s security amid the conflict in Ukraine.
The decision to provide financial assistance was made considering the challenges posed by separatist movements in the east of the country, possible aggressive actions by Russia and extensive technological capabilities that the combatants possess.
"This loan is a confirmation that the United Kingdom stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity," stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom.
