The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom supported the country's commitment to the principle of independence of the International Criminal Court. This position was expressed following recent actions by Russia and China related to investigations into crimes in Syria and Myanmar. According to a statement by a representative of the government, the United Kingdom's intention confirms its adherence to international diplomacy and respect for human rights.
"We support the International Criminal Court, which plays an important role in ensuring justice and accountability. We call on all member states to demonstrate respect for the court's work and its independence," noted an official government representative.
This statement was made in response to Russia and China's decision to block the adoption of the annual report of the UN Security Council's prosecutor on actions in Syria and Myanmar, which has caused discontent in the international community. Despite this, the United Kingdom has reiterated its commitment to work towards ensuring that the International Criminal Court can fulfill its functions and uphold compliance with international law.
