According to information published on the official website of the British government, the country has introduced new restrictions in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The main measure is the mandatory presentation of a negative COVID-19 test before traveling to the United Kingdom. This applies to all passengers, excluding children under the age of 11 arriving in the territory of the country.
It has also been announced that there is a ban on entry into the country for non-residents or nationals of the UK, Ireland, and countries in the European Free Trade Area before 4:00 AM on Wednesday. This decision is related to the detection of a new strain of the coronavirus in South Africa and Latin America.
"These measures are aimed at protecting the public from new variants of the coronavirus, of which we do not have absolutely any data," stated Health Minister Matt Hancock.
British authorities continue to monitor the situation and are ready to implement additional measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.
