According to information from The Times, the Home Office of Great Britain plans to limit the issuance of visas to nationals who, as it is assumed, are more likely to remain illegal and apply for asylum. This proposal is expected to be announced shortly in the upcoming white paper on migration, part of efforts by the government to reduce net migration, according to the British news agency PA Media.
The 'Labour Party' promised in its pre-election program to reduce the level of immigrants, asserting that 'the flow of net migration should be under control and effectively managed.' It also added that 'failures in this area motivate companies to train local workers.'
A representative from the Home Office of Great Britain stated: 'To counter the abuse of visas for work and study by foreigners who arrive and then apply for asylum, we are gathering intelligence on personal data files of these individuals for their quicker identification.' 'We are continually re-evaluating the visa system and will promptly implement measures if we detect trends that could undermine our immigration rules. As part of our reforms, we plan to present in the next white paper on migration a comprehensive program for restoring our damaged immigration system.'
