A recent report revealed that British Prince Harry attempted to contact his brother Prince William, with whom he has been estranged for years, through an intermediary. However, the Prince of Wales refused to engage in any dialogue with his younger brother. Royal author and expert Omid Scobie stated yesterday that Harry's unsuccessful reconciliation attempt with William coincided with his work on his 2023 book, "Endgame." Scobie said: "I was in contact with people very close to Harry, and among what I was told was that he reached out to a mediator, a mutual friend between him and his brother, in the hope that it would provide them an opportunity to talk, perhaps with a third party present, or by any other means." However, no dialogue took place between the brothers. Scobi explained: "The offer for a dialogue was not received in any form, so it now seems to me, in my opinion, that the wall between them is still standing." He added: "Unless the positions of both sides change, there will be no path to a resolution." Since 2020, Prince William, now 43, has distanced himself from his brother Prince Harry, 41, after the latter stepped back from his royal duties and moved to the United States with his wife Meghan Markle. In his new book, "William and Catherine: The New Monarchy Era: The Inside Story," author Russell Myers stated that William felt "deep sadness" over Harry's decision to leave the United Kingdom. Myers wrote: "The distance between the princes had been growing for years, but he now realizes in his heart of hearts that it is irreversible." He added that the "beautiful memories" of the brothers' childhood, including supporting each other after their mother Princess Diana's death and their upbringing in the spotlight, "have been marred by the disagreements rocking the family." In the same context, Myers noted that Catherine Middleton "was not as keen as her husband to try to convince Harry to stay on his post," and that the Princess of Wales saw Harry's resignation as "inevitable." Harry himself spoke about his rift with his family during an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in May 2025. He said: "There were a lot of disagreements between me and some members of my family," adding that he has since "forgiven them." Later, Harry met with his father, King Charles III, during a visit to London in September, where they held a one-hour meeting at the King's cancer-stricken residence at Clarence House. During his time in the United Kingdom, Harry did not meet with his brother William.
